Georg Häberling was born in Zurich. He earned a doctorate from Zurich University in 1979, with what is, so far, the only interdisciplinary dissertation presented by two postgraduate students, from the faculties of Law and Economic Geography. Upon receiving a scholarship from the National Fund, he studied political science at several American universities for a year.

George Häberling’s professional development has been guided by the urge to avoid any kind of routine matters, but rather to tackle unusual challenges, with priority given to finding creative and pragmatic solutions to complex entrepreneurial problems in the difficult areas of law and politics. He has taken charge of numerous expansion projects and has chaired the boards of several mixed-economy and private enterprises in England, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

Since 1985, as an independent lawyer, George Häberling has undertaken many advisory mandates, particularly in business law; dealing with questions of contract, corporation and trust law, as well as the area of compliance (e.g. prevention of money laundering). He is an internationally recognized expert in gambling legislation and, for example, has devised a modern gambling law, on behalf of the Liechtenstein Principality, including related regulations for casinos, online gambling, lotteries and sports betting that came into effect in January 2011.

From 1998 to 2008, he was on the Board of Trustees of the International Association of Gaming Attorneys (Las Vegas).

George Häberling is a Founding Member and Chairman of conim ag.
