Christian Billau, born in Xanten (Germany) in the Lower Rhine region, spent his youth in competitive sport before developing a passion for the tourism sector whilst studying economics in Bern. After completing his master’s degree, he initially focused on feasibility and potential studies for public sports facilities before moving into the operational management of tourism destinations. Since then, as an experienced entrepreneur and tourism project manager, he has been involved in destination development, the drafting of master plans and the identification of market opportunities.

He gained his extensive operational and strategic experience in the leisure and tourism industry through a variety of leadership and project management roles. Among his most significant professional positions was his long-standing role as managing director and partner at Emmental Tours / Emmental Tourism, where he was involved in organising major events as well as overseeing transformation processes and mergers involving companies and tourism service providers. As a former partner and project manager at one of the leading tourism experience agencies in the Alpine region, he possesses extensive expertise and a strong network within the tourism and leisure sector. His passion lies in developing and leading stakeholder processes in which diverse interests are brought together in a solution-oriented way.
