Bruno Stiegeler, who was born in Biel-Benken (Baselland), has over 30 years’ experience in Swiss banking. He started his career at the former Swiss Bank Corporation (now UBS), where he worked in all areas of a major universal bank before eventually becoming a member of the Executive Board.
After spending 20 years working for major banks, he joined Raiffeisen Switzerland, where he was responsible for setting up and running one of the first urban branches in Basel. Together with the newly created branch in Riehen, the bank grew to become an institution with total assets of over one billion Swiss francs within 13 years.
He then joined the Executive Board of WIR Bank Genossenschaft, leading its comprehensive transformation. Under his leadership, the bank established itself as a modern and innovative cooperative bank – among other things, through the development of the digital retirement solution VIAC, which is now considered the market leader.
As planned , Bruno Stiegeler handed over the management of the healthy and profitable bank to his successor in spring 2025. Since then, he has worked as an independent consultant for companies throughout Switzerland. He is also the vice-president of the Baselland Social Insurance Institution, elected by the cantonal government.
Bruno Stiegeler has numerous finance-related qualifications and has undergone extensive management training. This includes becoming a certified expert in corporate and employee management (NDS HF), graduating of the Swiss Finance Institute’s Advanced Executive Programme, and completing the CAS Board of Directors course at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
Bruno Stiegeler has been a partner and a Vicepresident of the Board of Directors of conim ag since 2025.
