The five communes Bettmeralp, Fiesch, Lax, Mörel-Filet and Riederalp founded the association «Aletsch Arena Tourism Related Infrastructure». From January 2025, the hiking and mountain bike trails will be coordinated across the communes. In the medium term, further infrastructure such as winter hiking trails, cross-country ski trails, snowshoe trails and sledge runs shall be included.
The aims of the association are to ensure a consistently high quality of tourism related infrastructure that meets the expectations of guests to the Aletsch Arena and to reduce costs by making use of operational synergies between the communes. Aletsch Arena AG is responsible for the operational implementation based on a performance agreement. The new role of «Infrastructure Maintenance Coordinator» was created for this purpose.
The development of the implementation concept was co-financed by the New Regional Policy NRP and the Upper Valais Development Fund. conim AG supported the project on behalf of the communes and the Aletsch Arena AG.
